MAH: Sharp-dressed man?

You know him, you may even love him, he has dozens of fine qualities. One of the those is . . . well, his clothing sense runs to the practical rather than the fashionable. He is renowned for holding on to clothes for far longer than most people would. ("I wait until it's used up. No use throwing something away if it's still in good condition.") (Ahem, he also notes, with some pride, that he, unlike many people, has not changed his size over the years.) So, readers, when I got him into a Men's Wearhouse, and working with a good salesman, I took the ball and ran with it.

MAH is now the proud (well, I'm proud, maybe he isn't) owner of a new sportcoat (to replace the one we lost on the way to SF), two new pairs of wool dress pants, a new overcoat (Calvin Klein, no less), and a new faux-suede lightweight outdoor jacket. How about that? Amazing, don't you think?

And who do we have to thank for this deluge of finery? A salesman who knows how to do his job. As you may recall, we had a simply horrendous experience at a Men's Warehouse in San Francisco (trying to replace the jacket that was lost.) As a result of MAH's intensely-pissed off phone call to their customer services line, we were given a $50 gift certificate. Good move on their part. We went in to see what they had in the way of jackets. After we explained the story to the salesman, he had exactly the right reaction (explained why that whole situation was bullsh*t [my words, not his] based on the way the stores work), and was helpful without being pushy. So I decided, let's give this guy some business and get MAH dolled up at the same time. Especially since he can never find clothes in his size in most stores anyway. Went back today to pick up jacket and pants, also bought overcoat and other coat because this guy was so good (and the prices were too). Now we have another $50 gift certificate coming to us because of their frequent buyer program.

Now, I know, ADR may turn his nose up at Men's Wearhouse, but, hey, we don't have many options up here and our budget does not allow many trips to Nordstrom (and those are saved for me). So it will have to do. Now if I can only start working on upgrading that famous collection of 80's and 90's-era sweaters (wait, strike that, they're all from the 90's--almost all purchased while he was in college, folks) . . .
